Shawn
Cox has been working in the golf
business since graduating from the University
of Washington. Shawn has played golf since
he was seven years old. He was introduced
to the game by his grandfather in Arizona.
Shawn’s mother Linda Cox was high
school state champion in Arizona and played
for Arizona State. Shawn excelled in football
and baseball growing up. Shawn played baseball
and football for the University of Washington.
The highlight was winning the National Championship
in football in 1992. He was inducted into
the Husky Hall of Fame in 1995.
Shawn Cox got his start in the golf business
at Torrey Pines in 1993. This
is where Shawn and Jordan Garrett met and
began a relationship that would later lead
to the starting of Amazing Synthetic Greens.
After becoming an assistant professional
at Torrey Pines he entered the PGA apprentice
program. Shawn Cox went on to gain membership
to the PGA while working as Assistant Head
Professional at La Jolla Country Club for
over nine years. Shawn has been the Director
of Golf at The Grand Golf Club since May
of 2006. Shawn became the first graduate
in Southern California in the new specialty
certification program in Instruction. He
is currently working towards Master Professional
status.
Shawn Cox has worked with tour professionals
and the only three time college All-American
in UCLA women’s golf history Charlotte
Mayorkas. Charlotte has now gone on to earn
her LPGA Tour card in 2007. Shawn credits
his learning more about teaching to his
mentors Phil Rodgers, Dennis Sheehy, Gary
Griggs and many others. Shawn was recently
rated 33rd best instructor in California
by Golf Digest. The poll is selected by
teaching professionals throughout the state
and country.
Shawn is committed

Greens become the leader in the industry.
